Share your screen, post the link
Open the Votano stage in a tab and share it with BBB’s screen sharing. Post the join link or the code in the chat. People vote in a browser tab or on their phone. Works with every BBB version.
“Generic Link Share”
If your BBB server has the official plugin enabled, choose “Share website link as content” in the “+” menu and enter the join link, e.g. votano.de/j/K7MPQ2. Everyone votes right in the meeting window.
Votano built into BBB
With the Votano plugin, the “+” menu offers “Show Votano poll”. Enter the code, pick the main area or the sidebar, done. Only moderators and presenters can start it.

Start your presentation in Votano
Start your deck as usual. The console runs in its own tab or on a second screen, where you move through the slides.
- In BBB
Share the code
In the chat (way 1), as a website link (way 2) or in the Votano plugin (way 3). Latecomers land on the current slide automatically.
- Live
Reveal the results
You reveal them in the console and everyone sees the results in their window. Nothing needs reloading.
Adding the Votano plugin
The plugin needs BigBlueButton 3.0 or later. We host it, nothing gets installed on your server. You only add the manifest, either per meeting at creation or server-wide.

Good to know
Does my audience need an account?
No. They vote anonymously, without an app or a login, just like with the QR code in a lecture hall.
Does Votano receive names or data from BBB?
No. The plugin only passes on the presentation’s code. Names, roles or camera images from BBB never go to Votano.
Who can start a poll?
With the Votano plugin, only moderators and presenters. BBB checks this on the server, not just in the interface.
Our BBB is older than 3.0. Does it still work?
Yes, with way 1: share your screen and post the link in the chat. The plugins (ways 2 and 3) need BBB 3.0.
